Quality
Our Approach -
We follow the well accepted practices put forward by ISO9001 as well
as other well accepted organizational approaches. Companies that have had
problems managing quality did not promote a culture of quality.
Our Culture -
Our culture is one that documents processes to assure repeatability, but
also encourages and rewards employees for asking tough questions about why
we do things the way we do, and why can't they be done better? Everyone, as
a principle component of their performace review, is evaluated on their approach
to quality. Regardless of other factors, a quality concern will override an
otherwise positive evaluation. We set expectations, and we follow through.
Our Controls -
Each department manager is responsible for giving a presentation on their
department each month to senior management. This presentation includes a section
on quality assurance and on quality control. This format is an open dialog where
the manager knows they are going to get tough questions and so they must be
prepared to perform well.
Our Technology -
Our company is lead by technology experts. We pride ourselves in being aware of the
best available technology and our ability to implement it. Code is developed by
programmers that produce high quality code before passing it on in the review process.
This approach is much different than the approach many companies take. Quality issues
can't be effectively addressed after the fact, they need to be addressed at the source
which is the programmer. If they are not able to produce high quality code the first
time around, then the problem might be associated with the requirements process, the
technical architecture, or the individual training.
